Frequently asked questions

JeepFareQR is a QR-based fare management system for jeepneys. Passengers scan a QR code inside the vehicle to board and alight; the system computes the exact distance-based fare and deducts it from a virtual wallet.

No. JeepFareQR runs entirely in your phone's web browser. Just open the site, log in, and tap "Scan to Board / Alight".

In your profile, choose the discount type and upload a photo of your supporting document (Certificate of Registration for students, Senior Citizen ID, or PWD ID). An administrator reviews it once. Once approved, the 20% discount applies automatically to every ride. Your ID number is stored encrypted at rest.

JeepFareQR processes every scan live against the server, so an active internet connection is required to scan. If your connection drops, the scanner will pause and show an offline notice. Reconnect and scan again — no fare is charged until the scan reaches the server.

Two ways: (1) request a top-up from your dashboard — an administrator approves it and your balance updates instantly; or (2) hand cash to an authorized operator who can credit your account on the spot.

Yes. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Government-issued ID numbers are encrypted with AES-256. Every login, top-up, and fare deduction is written to an append-only audit log. Security tokens (CSRF) protect every form submission.
